Practise Impromptu Speaking
Try a real Table Topics challenge right now — a random question and the classic green–amber–red timing lights. Speak out loud, build the muscle, no one watching.
Press start and your topic appears on the spot — just like a real meeting.
Proud of that? Challenge a friend.
Uses your microphone to sense if you’ve gone quiet. Nothing is recorded or sent — it stays on your device.
That is exactly what it feels like — only with a warm, encouraging room cheering you on.

What is Table Topics?
Table Topics is the impromptu-speaking part of every Toastmasters meeting. You're given a question you've never seen and asked to speak about it for one to two minutes — no notes, no prep. It sounds terrifying and turns out to be the most fun part of the night. It's the single best way to get quicker, calmer, and more confident on your feet.
How to practise impromptu speaking
Use the tool above on your own — in the kitchen, in the car, wherever you won't feel self-conscious. A few tips:
- Start with one point. Say your answer in a sentence, then explain why, give an example, and restate it. (Speakers call this "PREP".)
- Aim for the green light. In a meeting, green shows at one minute, amber at 90 seconds, red at two. Getting to green means you said enough — that's a win.
- Don't restart. If you stumble, keep going. Recovering smoothly is the real skill — and it gets easier every single time.
- Do it daily. One question a day for two weeks will noticeably change how you handle being put on the spot at work.
Practising solo is good. A warm room is better.
